Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs (click for link)
We took a little trip last month, and you know what we did?  We soaked in natural hot waters with healing
properties.  It was wonderful.  We were there for about 4 hours, which was plenty I think, and soaked, swam, whispered, and covered ourselves in mud.  It was a perfect way to relax after a weekend of skiing and being sore.  And what a unique place, surrounded by probably less than 1,000 people in a 50 mile radius!  The views! (mountains, definitely not the people) The healing waters! The atmosphere!  I'd do it again (but probably wouldn't stay in the hotel, because in our 4 hours I think we did everything there was to do?)

Happy birthday, hubby! :)  Thanks for taking me on trips and doing DIY!  I love you!

Same trip! Rio Grande gorge.

This Weird Thrifted Dress
thrifted dress
I've been on a bit of a thrifting kick recently. I stopped hitting up Goodwill for a while because my closet is stuffed! Packed! Way too full!

But I recently decided to venture out to the second-hand shops in town with the hope that I would find a small dresser to fit in my closet. You know, to aid with the stuffed! packed! and way too full! mess I've got going on in there. I didn't find a dresser, but I sure waltzed out of the thrift store with some gems. Whoops.

This dress by Karen Sedgley (made in America!) has an interesting construction. It's supposed to be one size fits most, so it has a modular button back. I've never seen a dress that can be temporarily taken in or let out like this... the dress has a line of four buttons along the back and two loops that hook over the buttons. It's like the Sisterhood of the Traveling Dress!

I'm tempted to use this technique in my own sewing because it creates a semi-fitted top with a flowy skirt and no need to put in a zipper. No zipper? I'm down.

This Weird Green Color

My collection of weird green things
I have no idea what this color is; I only know that I like it. In my mind I call it "citron" because that makes me feel like a classy lady. It's not quite yellow and ever-so-slightly neon. My roommate says if this green were yellow, it would be called "mustard." What's the green equivalent of mustard? Relish? Gross.

What I do know is that I knit Ysolda's Ripley (hat pictured left) from this lovely green Paton's Wool. I think it's cute and it's definitely been a hit among the older crowd. One old man even went so far as to grab. My. Head. Because he couldn't resist the awesome. He was a stranger and it was a super creepy interaction, but I'm choosing to look at the bright-side and think about how much I love this hat instead.

Any way--this new yarn (top left in the photo) I picked up at my LYS is super soft and I'm excited to work with it. It's Madeline Tosh's Merino Light and I got enough to make an average-sized shawl. Now all I need is a skirt in this color and I'll be rocking the head-to-toe relish monster look. But... like the cute type of relish monster.

Happy Friday!
