Yo...yo.

posted by Diana
Things have been a bit chaotic here. I have at least four hats started on the needles, too many dresses that need altering, writing projects that have been in process for months (and years)... and no end to the madness in sight. You name it--I just haven't been able to finish anything.

I come home from work and I sit and I stare and I look at the clock and I'm not sure how much time has passed...but it's time to go to bed. Is this what being an adult is like?

Fortunately, I've found a mindless yet productive activity for those less-than cognizant days.

My desk has become a catch-all for projects in-progress and cast-off crafts... (and this is only a small portion of the chaos that is my bedroom/writer's nook/Etsy shop HQ).

Peeking around the giant mason jar of water, nestled among the stray threads at the base of my wine glass Emma painted for me, are my most recent projects. Itty-bitty fabric yo-yos that take minutes to make with no effort and brain power (except for remembering which side of the fabric to put right-side up).

As I mentioned a few weeks back, I love crafting gadgets--and I made all of these yo-yos with Clover's small and large yo-yo makers (I swear I'm not sponsored by them... I'm just brand loyal). You can most assuredly make these little fabric clusters without the yo-yo makers, but this way I don't have to put effort into keeping my stitches even.

Fabric in, yo-yo out.
So, what good is a yo-yo? It uses up scrap fabric, which excites my hoarder tendencies. As you can see, my yo-yos match my sheets. I bought these sheets a few months back and saved the fabric bag they came in...the bag most normal people toss out. I knew I would use it for something!

And now that I have a bunch of yo-yos, what can I make from them? Honestly... a lot of ugly stuff. But here are some cute ideas from around the internet.

As embellishments--
from Red Brolly.
or on their own.
from Paint Me White.

from Fascination Baby.
Cute right? Fun fact: yo-yos are called Suffolk Puffs in the UK.

Happy making!
