Friday Favorites: Giveaway Edition 10/3/14

It's been almost eight months since we first started this blog and we can't thank everyone enough for their support in reading our posts. We love sharing our DIY passion and are excited for 14,000+ views!

So we're having a giveaway!

We've been best friends for over half of our lives, so we thought it would be sweet to give away a prize package consisting of two of each item--one for you and one to give away to your own best friend.

The winner will receive:
and various other goodies!

The Duet has handmade these crafts specifically for this contest! (That means you're not getting our janky, old crafting cast-offs.) If we were selling this stuff on Etsy, the entire lot would retail for nearly $250. Of course, we appreciate you all so much more than that, but we still think we're giving you a first-rate prize package.

Rules:
  • Must like DIYDuet's Facebook page.
  • Must share DIYDuet's Facebook contest post on your own Facebook (it's the post with the first prize package photo in this post).
  • Must be over 18 or have a parent's permission to enter the giveaway and give out your home address (we're not creeps! promise).
  • Must comment on this post you're currently reading (Friday Favorites: Giveaway Edition 10/3/14) and tell us your favorite DIY you've created or a wonderful story about your BFF.
The winner of the contest will be announced next week on our Friday Favorites: 10/10/14 post and contacted via e-mail. You'll know it's us because we'll include a different photograph of the prize package to our initial e-mail with the subject line, "DIYDuet 2014 Giveaway: You Won!"

Winners will be chosen via this random number generator. Each comment on this post will be assigned a number, one through whatever, in the order posts are received. Then the machine does the picking for us (seems fair enough...)! Multiple entries will not be considered.

Happy winning!

  1. Hmmm... this could end up posting multiple times, as I'm tech challenged and it's not posting. Anyhoo, my favorite DIY is the headbands my daughter and I made for my baby granddaughter. I love seeing photos of her wearing the things we made with our own hands, with love.

  3. My favorite DIY I created is a headband and hairbow holder. I used an old frame found at Goodwill and spray painted it, then used a pretty fabric in the frame with ribbon running down to hold the clips. Then I used eye hooks at the bottom of the frame to hold headbands. It sounds confusing but looks so cool!

  4. My favorite DIYs with her was redoing an old piece of furniture for my kiddos room. Good friends, good times redoing and DIYing things! So much fun :) loved using chalk paint for it!

  5. I have a story about a DIY project that I did with my BFF. We were going to make a crochet purse and this was both our first times learning to crochet. Let's just say the purse ended up becoming a stuffed toy. I'm happy to say we've both improved with our crocheting skills though!

  6. One of my favorite DIY projects was inspired by a project Diana posted on this blog. I'm not much of a knitter, but I loved the "Where the Wild Things Are" hat Diana made, so I worked out a crochet version of the hat for my good friend. She should be having her first child this month. She loved the hat and that I made it with her little one in mind. I can't wait to see this tiny little human in such a cute hat. Thanks for the inspiration!

  7. Well, Diana knows I'm not much of a crafter, I do have fond high school memories of Diana learning to sew from my mother and our cats scaring Diana as she learned how to wield a sewing machine. I would generally hear her screaming as the demon cats surprised her.

Also, Diana, as #1 Roomie and awesome friend, has given me a variety of her projects over the years, all of which I treasure very much, but particularly her wonderful earrings. A few years ago I wanted to make a pair for my boyfriend's mother--it was a special gift, so I was willing to try my hand at crafting even though I'm generally terrible--anyway, Diana walked me through the whole process via phone conversation as I was in Montana at the time. Her tips were helpful and the earrings actually turned out surprisingly well and Pam thought they were wonderful.

  8. I know the giveaway has already happened... but I wanted to share my two favorite DIY's. The first was when my wife Lauren and I made 3 upholstered headboards all in the same day. What an adventure! The second was when I surprised Lauren by doing a DIY tiled backsplash in our kitchen. My first tiling experience and well worth the effort to see her reaction when she saw it!
